The Rotterdam International Secondary School (RISS) was established in 1987 to provide educational facilities for the children of the international community living in and around Rotterdam.
RISS is a values-driven international school whose aim is to develop 'confident, ethically responsible and innovative global citizens'. With teachers and families from over thirty countries, we are a truly international community providing worldclass educational programmes.
By completing the international GCSE's and the prestigious International Baccalaureate programme, our students leave well prepared for university life anywhere in the world.
The language of instruction is English. Students are encouraged to maintain or further develop their own language skills and to take pride in their own culture. It is possible to do IBDP and IGCSE examinations in certain “own language” studies and we encourage our students, where possible, to do this. In many instances, it may result in the students receiving a bilingual diploma. This assists the students tremendously if they want to return to their home country for higher education.
Our focus is that every child should enjoy their childhood as they learn to become independent adults.
